HONARABLE MEC SIPHOKAZI LUSITHI HANDS OVER A HOUSE TO A CENTENERIAN

A 110-year-old destitute man from Patensie under Kouga Local Municipality will receive keys to his new house from the Eastern Cape Human Settlements MEC, Siphokazi Lusithi, on 18 July 2024. The handover forms part of the Department’s Nelson Mandela Day celebrations focusing on improving the lives of the destitute and vulnerable in society.

Tata Poto Dyantyisi

Tata Poto Dyantyisi (110) has been living in a shack with his 7 siblings and dependent on social grant. The house has been built through an intervention by the Department and local municipality from an urgent call to change his living conditions.

He benefitted from the Department’s Destitute and Vulnerable Groups Programme, “It is still in our hands to combat poverty and inequality”
