SANParks Marine Unit Rangers in Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) successfully apprehended four suspected poachers in Simons Town. This comes after the rangers spotted a suspected vehicle during their routine patrol. The rangers called for backup and after ordering the vehicle to a halt, conducted a search.

Upon inspection, a substantial quantity of abalone was found in the vehicle. The team seized 94 whole-state abalones, two Alikreukels, and diving equipment. The suspects were taken to the South African Police Services station in Simons Town where a case of poaching has been opened.
