Executive Mayor of Sarah Baartman District Municipality, Cllr Deon de Vos, was interviewed on Enca this morning as part of the #MandelaDay event in Patensie today where Tata Dyantyisi will receive a home as part of the Destitute and Vulnerable Programmed of the Department of Human Settlements.
A 110-year-old destitute man from Patensie under Kouga Local Municipality will receive keys to his new house from the Eastern Cape Human Settlements MEC, Siphokazi Lusithi, on 18 July 2024. The handover forms part of the Department’s Nelson Mandela Day celebrations focusing on improving the lives of the destitute and vulnerable in society.
He has been living in a shack with his 7 siblings and dependent on social grant. The house has been built through an intervention by the Department and local municipality from an urgent call to change his living conditions. Poto is very grateful of receiving the house and would like to thank everybody for making his dream come true on Mandela Day.
